Unhappy mirror replacement glass???

Anybody know where I can buy replacement glass for my 01 camper mirrors? I need the convex insert glass. Dealer says Dodge does not sell replacement glass, but they are more than willing to sell me the complete mirror ($250.00) I'm ready to tape a picture of my wife in its place, just so I have something to look at when I glance over there. Please help if anyone can.

I've always had luck at a local automotive glass place.

If you have a Binswanger (sp?) Glass shop in your area, they can fix you right up with OEM replacement (even convex) mirror glass.

I just had the big mirror (not convex) replaced on mine at the local Binswagner store for about $45 and took less than 5 mins to replace.

Automirror.net wants $97 for the little convex glass for the side mirror. There's got to be somewhere cheaper. I can buy the round ones at Wal Mart for $2.

I just replaced mine at Jacks auto glass in Spring,TX for 35 bucks. The glass looks perfect and is cut exactly to the other mirror. Thanks Aaron

I replaced one on my other (brand X) truck a couple years ago and I bought it from Auto Zone for around $15.

Question Repair of mirror

Along these same lines, I have the newer style tow mirrors that had been installed by PO, but the driver's mirror flops around. I've read about how to tighten the mechanism, once I get the glass off. The trick is, how do you get the glass off without breaking it.

One caveat: I bought the truck from a dealership who had to replace the glass. Don't know why they didn't tighten the mirror when they did it, but they didn't. I happened to be there when they replace the glass, and they used a TON of goop to glue it back on... (Unfortunately, didn't notice the mirror was loose until the next day when I removed all of the tape they used to hold the glass on while it set...)

Thanks!
Dave

I just replaced the passenger side mirror on my Mom's Oldsmobile with a replacement convex mirror ordered through NAPA. It came in an opened package and the adhesive was missing. I used some of that real sticky grey putty tape that RV windows are set in...worked fine so far. It was only about 10 bucks and was a perfect fit.
