Mirror Glass Replacement

After cracking both side mirrors into about 6 pieces each, I went to the local dealer and got them.
Part numbers are: 5019892AA (Heated Pass side)
5019893AA (Heated Drivers Side)

Both pop in and out in about 1 minute.

Cost was $77.35 out the door.

Re:Mirror Glass Replacement

I'm curious...

If I was to replace the standard mirror glass in my tow mirrors with heated units. Is it possible to hook them up thru a switch or relay or something to just use them off and on for quick defrosting of the mirrors?

Re:Mirror Glass Replacement

Homestead, I expect that if you got the replacement glass the correct size you could hook it up. The only problem I can see is routing the wire thru the mirror mount. My mirrors only had two spade type connectors with about 20 gauge wire to connect. That makes me think that they only pull about 5 amps or less. However, the reason mine cracked was due to ice on them and one of the kids left the heaters on too long.

I will say that it is sure nice being able to back a trailer now that I don't see about 6 different views in each mirror.

Non-heated glass replacements?

Anybody have any idea how much a NON-HEATED replacement mirror glass would be for the passenger side mirror of a 2001 2500 SLT? Mine's cracked but it's just the glass.

When I decided to replace the "fun house" objects seem closer passenger side mirror on my Ram I just took it to an auto glass shop where they cut and installed a "real" mirror for $15.
Cracked me up when the glass guy said sure we can fix that then hit the offending mirror with a wrench breaking it into a hundred pieces.
