Re:Michelin tires for winter?

I upgraded to the Michelin M/S when I bought the truck new and don't have any complaints. Do have 4-wheel and anti-slip. Haven't been stuck yet!! Runs rite down the road in rain and snow!! Have over 50 K on tires and will probably get them again. Have checked into some other tires and it is hard to find anything else in load range E (8-plys).

Good luck!!

The stock Michelin's are a very poor tire in wet freezeing snow. The thread design is to close together to make them self cleaning. The wider more aggressive thread design is needed if you are going to run wet snow and ice.

Agreed, even with the mud and snow rating they don't do well in either situation, at least that's my expierence. On the other hand I think there the best tire available for long tread life, quiet on highway, and RAIN handling. They don't do well in the cold, tread gets to stiff/hard/SLICK below zero.

brownpike

OH BOY I can see trouble coming with this one, But i ain't gettin in it. :
i didnt mean to start any trouble
but you dont need mud tires....
we have a 85 250 gmc 4x4 no lift no big tires
just plain old stock size highway tires, with tire chains on this truck is unstoppable.... i mean 4 feet of snow, and much much more.
i think im getting way off topic here... so i better shut the......

sorry if i ****** off anybody [undecided]
