Making it a quieter ride

I have a 2002 dodge 2500 and i am wondering if any of you guys have done any modifications to make the ride a little quieter. I personally dont mind it sometimes but on long trips on the highway the noise from the engine can get irratating. I am guessing part of the reason it is a bit noisy is because i have the 6spd and rubber floors. So any help would be awsome

pull out your flooring and use something similer to dynamat on the firewall and floors that should make it about as quiet as possible

Soot Shooter has the solution.

Pull the carpets and add a layer or two of a product like Dynamat Extreme from the firewall to the rear window.

Put a 5 inch stack on it and you won't ever hear that irritating motor noise again.

Yes that will most diff. take care of any engine noise. That is what I would do!

Now anyone want to donate to my foundation for stacks fund.

there is also a type of insulation that goes on the engine side of the firewall and under the cab. that would also help.

To add to Commatoze' post, ATP wrap works ok, but it is only if you are not on a budget. Furthermore I would recommend only the valve cover blanket, and the oil pan blanket as they are the two that make the most difference. Many go with variations of Dynamat in their trucks, but I went with a soundproofing paint, and have been quite happy with it.

I did as mentioned above. Using dynamat extreme and a product called brown bread. It worked fairly well. I think the worst area is the rear cab wall. There is nothing on it at all. Guess they figured the rear seat back was enough. I did the inside of the doors, the rear cab wall, the floors and as far up the inside of the fire wall as possible. I put two layers most everywhere except the rear wall where I put 3. It definitely did help but it is by no means quiet. I was going to go the atp wrap route in addition but just havent done it yet. That stuff is fairly expensive.
