Question Looking for a new radio, hard to find something that will fit

Why on earth did Dodge have to use an oddball size for the stereo? It's not DIN or double DIN size.

I'm am looking to find something that would fit in the hole without having to use an trim plate to cover the gap. I can find DIN size radios all day long, but nothing really that fits exactly like the original stereo.

I'm looking to upgrade my radio because the volume **** is acting crazy (music gets louder when I am turning the **** down, etc), and I would like something that can actually play a burnt disc from home (something else my factory radio struggles with). XM, bluetooth for the phone, and a front aux input would be nice too. Like I said though, plenty of DIN size radios has all of those features.

Anyone ever run into this before?

The plates aren't that bad.
My Sony eXplode Mp3 with usb port looks perfect even with the plate.

What about going with an install kit for a single din that has the little cubby hole below the radio? Lets you use any single din radio you want and it doesn't leave the blank space around it.

Not sure about the din size, but in regards to the radio make sure to get a HD radio- the difference in the rural areas is HUGE. goes from normal staticy stereo to CD quality in 3 seconds. AM goes from a crappy buzzing PA speaker quality to FM quality.

Dodge used a 1.5 DIN radio and you won't find much that are that size. There are a few off brands that make them but I wouldn't trust them. Just pick a single DIN you like the features of and use an install kit w/cubby hole - if done correctly it looks fine.
