should be good to go with stock cover. if you had a aftermarket cover I dont know about that one.

Yes it will but the stock wheels will rub a little when lock all the way over. you can grind off an eighth to quarter inch off of the tie rod ends to stop this. I was looking at the inverted T on the new Dodges and liked it allot more then the early set up. I would recommend checking to see if it might work on our trucks with a little modification. I get a little drag link rotation with my set up.

Bringing an old one back up.

Once you convert over to the '98-'99 steering linkage, can you use the steering damper from a '98-'99 or is the axle mounting point different?

I went to the "T" setup on my '01 and I'm not running a steering damper now, but was looking for a way to put one back in.

the options I have seen are weld a better angled mounting poing and front end of the dampner needs to be the style that clamps on the bar.. or you can get a double dampner system like www.topguncustomz.com has which mount/clamp to the axle and come out..

oh and I haven't put one on yet either.. its been along time since I did the conversion.. but getting ready to do one soon...

My '99 2500 came from the factory with the T setup and a clamp-on steering damper. The damper clamp has to be angled away from the front differential cover so it will clear during hard turning.

Can you get a picture of the location of the axle end of the damper?

I knew the '99s had the clamp on style since I helped my buddy remove his when he encountered a "road hazard" that damaged his. I just wasn't sure if I could get the clamp-on setup and use it on my '01 with the '98-99 steering. I figured it should work unless they moved the axle end mounting point when they changed the steering setup in '00.

Perfect, that's the info I was looking for. I just didn't want to end up with parts that didn't fit since I'll probably be getting them online. Thanks!

This is a very old thread Diesel Dave2, why don't you begin a new thread when you swap your steering and include photos so others can learn from your experience.
