Inverted y to T steering linkage
 
seen someplace that around 1998,and 97 and or 99 Dodge put a T steering linkage on some trucks,suposedly Heavy Duty,before and after those years they used a inverted Y steering linkage,now I see Dodge is supplying the HD T to be put on the 3rd gen trucks, question is-does someone know if the T linkage will fit on a 2001.5-2500-4x4,and if so,what are the part numbers.

Yes it will. I would have to dig up all the part numbers, but you buy all the parts for a '98. You will need to use you tie rod ends IIRC.

recently have been looking at the same for my 02 these are off of only the 98 and 99 trucks you would be using your 02 upper drag link.

these are moog parts

Now it would be interesting to see if anyone with the T linkage ever had the DEATH WOBBLE.

LOL, I couldn't get mine to death wobble with worn out tires, worn out tie rod ends and worn ball joints.........Still won't wobble with the T conversion.

Please enlighten us a bit more,what difference,if any, did it make by going to the T linkage, steering improvement,less tire wear,was it worth it?

well when I do it from the size comparison alone the conversion pieces are beefier. I think the Toe will be constant and steering would trac cleaner and more responsive. also things like trac-bar and steering box movement as well as steering shaft play all have a part in this puzzle. for me this will hopefully be the last piece in it. so far everything else I have done has helped to some degree. I have never had the death wobble in this truck yet to say yea or nea.

Clearly the biggest benefit is to limit toe angle changes as the suspension cycles. Since the wheels are now hooked on a common shaft, they stay aligned correctly.

Seriously, what the others have said, plus did I mention those parts are BEEFY?

I probably wouldn't waste my time changing it if I had a good linkage, but when one part goes, I convert, why throw good money after bad?

I just did this swap with LLT Orielly's brand parts. I can say it helped, but my RockSolidRam steering bushing backed out on the first trip out with it and so I still had slop in the steering. It doesn't pull nearly as bad though.

I just looked up all the parts at orielly's for a 99 HD suspension. You need the 2 inner tie rods, 2 outer tie rods, the large coupler, and the smaller coupler. The large one was only availible in moog at orielly's. The house brand are grease zerk equip'd.

Anyone have a ballpark figure on what all the parts needed for this cost? Looks like a good upgrade, just trying to figure out what it'll set me back.

It was about $300 using all Orielly house brand LLT except for the large Moog coupler since they only carried that in moog. Everything else was between $400-$500 for Moog or Napa stuff when I called. I just did this swap. Also calculate in an alignment too.
