the parameters are way too low for that factory high idle. it was -12 C here this morning. intake temps were 20 F but as soon as you start it they jump up over 50 F.
also can i use a smarty for a commonrail to enable my high idle on a 24v?

Here's the info on the PTO wire from the '01 FSM.
It's in the ECM connector on Pin #26. It is an 18 gauge Orange wire. This goes up to Pin #2 on Connector C125 which is on the firewall (shown here).
C125 should be a black connector, where C126 right next to it is gray.
Unfortunately, the wiring diagram doesn't say whether the pin should be grounded or have voltage applied to it. It only shows the PTO Switch Sense as the end component.

ya went to the dealership, and they said all they could find with their scanner was the 3 cylinder high idle, which is BS because i HAD something on there before. dont know what i did to loose it, but its gone, and it worked through my cruise control... so its whatever. dont really need it where im at right now, but it would just be cool to have...

The easiest solution is to install a switch on the PTO wire, the difficult part is to figure out what signal to give the wire. I just spent 3 hours tracing all the wires and circuits that go through the C125 and C126 I have most of them but had to quit for now. I'm looking at the C126 as well because some circuits go through one and return through the other. It's possible that the PTO does the same.

I have been reading up on as much of this "high idle" info as I can, trying to find someone who has successfully created a true fully controllable electronic high idle mod, that would work like a manual "choke" cable, but electronically. The APPS high idle mod is the closest I think, but however, around 1500 RPM or so, it throws a code.
Don't know if anyone's tried this or if it would even work, but what if you combined the APPS high idle mod with the PTO wire mod. In theory, if you grounded the PTO wire, the OBDII would possibly go into a "PTO mode", that way when you idled up through the APPS past 1500 RPM or so, the computer wouldn't throw a code.
However, I don't know if the OBDII is set up to cancel that parameter. Just an idea...

well its been in the single digits this last week, and my truck has kicked into high idle by itself...it kickes itself up to 1200 RPM. and then i can hear the 3 cylinder idle kick in...
tried using the cruise control and nothing happened... so it works on my truck, just has to be below 25 seems like... and i cant control it
its not what i wanted, but its better than nothing...

Based on what you just said, then all you should have to do is ground the PTO wire with a switch and this "should" activate some sort of high idle? Unless I'm mistaken. Plus I thought someone already tried grounding the PTO wire and nothing happened.

Sorry for not being clear. What I meant by my statement was that the PTO wire is used as a trigger to disable certain obd functions so that you don't throw a code when idling at high rpms.
I thought we had already discussed this earlier so I went back and reviewed this thread. See post 27-30 on page 2.

From the sounds of it, the PTO wire is just used to fool the ECM into thinking nothin is goin on while you idle up. It just prevents a DTC. If someone figures out wether that PTO wire needs a gnd, 5v signal, 12v+ or what, they might be onto somethin, using the APPS h.i. mod, or a hand throttle
