this may be a stupid question, but i've seen where the optimal fuel pressure on the 24V engines is around 15psi or little under. what kind of effect does it have on the injection pump when the fuel pressure is higher around 20psi? can a higher fuel pressure have any negative effect on the VP44 or the fuel system?

I've got a quick question too, I've had a 95 gph FASS for several years now and am starting to notice a slight decrease in pressure. I used to have a solid 17psi at idle and couldn't draw it below 13 psi. Now it sits at 15-16 psi at idle and I can draw to 10psi at WOT. Sounds like the"die" over time, like the carter's. Anyone else see this? I guess I need a new FASS, right?

Could the decrease in pressure be the filter needs changing? I have had my FASS 95/150 for several years (Almost 100K miles) with no drop in pressure. I have changed my filter at 50K Miles and is due to replace filter again. I am very pleased with my FASS and would highly recommend it although I have no knowledge of the ddrp as I have the 95/150 with air separater mounted on frame rail.

Actually high fuel pressure could hurt the vp44. There have been accounts where excessive pressure like 26psi idle have killed vp44's. Yes you will see a drop in pressure if you don't have a good, clean fuel filter.

if the fuel pressure is staying right at 20 at idle is this ok....can it have any negative effect on the injection pump? i noticed that the engine seems a little louder than it did with the stock fuel pump....the engine definitely sounds helthy but just louder.....

20psi doesn't seem to be too high. I think you should be fine. I recently started running 2-stroke tcw3 oil through my diesel and the first thing i noticed was how much quieter the engine was. I recommend the two stroke because it also lubes the heck out of the injection pump which will ensure a longer lasting vp44..

lately i have just been using power service. i saw where it tested fairly good in lubricating fuel system. i may start using some 2-stroke oil too....do you usually just dump a small bottle of 2-stroke oil in with a full tank?

Does this have any other problems we should know before adding two stroke?

no, this truck doesn't have any problems at all. i just recently installed a new FASS DDRP. I noticed that the fuel pressure was up at 20psi now at idle and i was just wanting to make sure that this wasn't going to cause any problems with the injection pump having fuel pressure that high. i did notice that the engine seems a little louder after installing the fass. the engine sounds healthy, but just little louder. i'm guessing this is normal since the injection pump is getting plenty of fuel flow....
