FASS DDRP FUEL LIFT PUMP question
FASS DDRP FUEL LIFT PUMP question
Hi all,
Original lift pump went out yesterday at 101K. Truck is stock and I'm looking for an alternative to the stock pump. Maybe some mild mods in the future. Some questions:
1) FASS DDRP FUEL LIFT PUMP is not a direct bolt on, correct? You need to mount on the frame near the current pump?
2) For those of you who have FASS DDRP FUEL LIFT PUMP are you having any issues? I have concerns over the banjo bolt fittings. Also, is it loud? In the description for their more expensive pumps they say they are more quiet.
3) The replacement according to Cummins is an in-tank pump. The pain in the butt installation aside, are there merits to this solution? Does mother Cummins know best?
4) I see that some guys are running the Airdog pump. What is your level of satisfaction with that pump? I'm not crazy about the sandwich bracket that extends below the frame (can probably just drill and mount it on the frame.
Thanks in advance for your input.
P.S. It's been fuel pump failure this month in the family. The pump went in my wife's '01 BMW 325iT at 165K. Easy job. Take out back seat, remove access cover, pull out old pump, put in new, $150, you're done in 20 min. Gotta love those Bavarians.

I had two HPFP pumps fail on my 03 and one on my 05. They wore the brushes out. I was told it was poor grounds and wiring. I installed the supplied harness as per instruction. I even bought a new harness for the 05 just to eliminate the problem.
The pumps were all noisy untill the last one they sent me which was the more sleek design.
I would still carry some form of back up pump even if you buy a FASS or Airdog. Just one of those little 12 inline pumps just to get you home.
