FASS DDRP in stock location on STOCK truck
Hi guys,
I know this topic has been beat to death. But I'm looking for a specific answer.
I recently bought an 02 with 72,000 miles on it. Bone stock as the day it was built. I believe it has the original lift pump on it. I would like to replace it here very shortly. I've been looking very hard at the FASS DDRP. Due to it being a direct bolt-on product. I have enough mechanical ability to change a lift pump, but not so much as to "re-engineer" the entire fuel system.
How many of you have the DDRP in the factory location? Have you been happy with it? I am not doing any other mods except for gauges. NO tuners.

I have one on my truck and it was a breeze to change. The directons said to remove the starter and do it from the bottom. I did mine from the top and did not remove the starter. It only took about 2 hours and I was in no hurry. Some people move it to the frame rail but I put mine back on the block and it bolted right on. LOL

Very pleased with mine also. Relatively easy upgrade and have been running it for almost 3 years. With my edge set on 3 still have adequate pressure. Trans can't take anymore lol. Factory location is perfect for me.

I did mine from the top and only took about 30 minutes. I have since moved it to the frame rail. The pressure has stayed the same. I get 18 psi at idle and 13 at wot.

Not sure about the engineering aspects, but I've been told that the closer the lift pump is to the tank, the better. This is because a pump is meant to push, not pull.
