Well i Bought a 97 2500, 5.9, 5 speed, 4x4. Driving home about an hour and half from the house the transmission stuck in 5th gear. Pulled on the shifter and the shifter came out of gear but the tranny is still in 5th. I can feel 1-4 but cant even get over to 5th. Anyone else have this problem?

 

Betting the shift fork for 5th broke or came off somehow.

Probably will have to drop the TC and tailhousing, hopefully wont have to go any further.

 

yea i called the tranny shop this morning and told him what was going on he said the samething and being in the army i dont have the time to pull it and need it back quick so its at the shop right now getting looked at. thanks for replying by the way.

 

well it isnt the forks its in the rear housing going back after work to see if they found anything differnt. Hopefully its nothing to bad.
