Drivers Seat-Wear & Tear

Wondering if "sliding" our of drivers seat will wear through in time.
Seeing very minor sighs of possible wear, at 45,000 miles. Am in & out of truck 5-10 times a day.
Would like seat cover to last as long as engine! Possible?
Anyone with heavy daily use and higher mileage know if this is a place for future concern?

I'm in and out of mine quite a bit each day, and being a heavy equipment mechanic, the first thing I bought for my truck was a seat cover. I purchased a leather seat cover for my 'premium cloth' seats from Wal-Mart for $25. It seams to be holding, but if and when it wears out, it would be cheaper and easier to replacethe seat cover, than the seat itself.

freind of mine just recently bought a 98 and the seller had the seat fixed for him. it was a 4-5 inch split along the seam from slideing out all the time. thats a 98 so maybe it will last a while

My leather driver seat has worn on the left cheek side as well. So has my pops 94 cloth seat. I think mine is also accelrated because of pushing in the clutch. I would like to have it repaired, but its a long shot.

Care to break this down into a "seat wear/ driver weight" graph?

This is a really common thing on most higher mileage 2nd gens. I've seen it dozens of times.

Makes me mad. We spend good money and they can't get us a decent seat.

The seats of my Ford stood up better.

Fords gotta be good for something eh?

Could you give some details on the seat swap? Any reason it won't work for cloth seats also?

Thanks to all for some great ideas and imput! (and the input ,also)

Mine is a 99 with 132 000 kms (82 000 miles). I'm the second owner, and I think the previous owner was a BIG guy. The cloth is still ok , but it is showing wear on the foam under it. It's starting to have that "flat" left cheek feeling!

Katzkin leather dealer in Vancouver said they can do the entire truck in leather for about $1500.00 CND. Might be in the cards someday.
