Door Panel ?

Hey guys, ran a search and came up with notta. My question is - does anyone know of a way to fix the door panel where the push-pins go into? The slot where the pins go, on my driver panel about 4 or 5 are broke due to the PO. If not, does anyone know who might sell a new one? LMC doesn't. Or do I need to find a wrecked vehicle? Thanks.

I'm shocked LMC don't have something. I'd check around the scrap yards and as far as fixing them you probably could not do much to it that would be reliable or dependable if you have to remove the panel again.

Here's something I found on google, they don't have an illustration but and did not look at the year of your truck before I started this. Shows door panel for an 02', here's a link,

http://www.wholesalemopar.com/parts_catalog.html

Just type in the year, model, etc then new window opens with list on the left. Think I looked under interior trim.

Got lots of stuff on ebay,

I had several of the pins that were broken on my driver's side door panel (previous owner), but the pins were still in the sheet metal. I was able to repair them by gluing them back in place with hot glue, and on a couple I added a piece of aluminum backing to help keep the pin in place. I have removed the door panel several times since the repair, and they have been holding up great. Of course the repair looks like crap, but no one can see it when the door panel is in place...

I don't think he is looking for the Christmas tree pins but trying to repair the slots they slide into....

The door panel is ABS material which doesn't seem to glue too well.

In the past I have taken trim screws with the cone washer attached and drilled holes thru to the metal underneath the edge of the panel and had good luck with it. I also repaired my drivers seat belt guide this way.

I had the same problem. I cracked a couple of the slots in the door panel that the clips fit into. I tried several different types of glue including the two part epoxy stuff and super glue but nothing would stick until I tried a hot glue gun. The plastic in the door panel is very soft and melts easily so the hot glue bonds very well. I cut some aluminum window screen and placed it over the crack before covering it with hot glue to reinforce it. Seems as strong or stronger than before. I also did the unbroken slots the same way to reinforce them.

The dealer wants about $250 for each door panel.

The screen and hot glue idea sounds like the best idea I have heard about this. Nice work!

I had the same issue on my rear door, along the bottom edge of the door panel I drilled a small hole thru the panel and into the sheet metal then I used a drywall screw, the screw is black and not even noticable, been like that for just about 4yrs

Thanks for the information guys. I ended up getting some interior screws from the OBS Fords with the "fitted" washer and put a couple in where the tab holders were broke.

wlowe - I really like the idea and I might do that at some point if I find some used good condition door panels.

I just saw these panel retainers on Spike TV so I went to the website. Kind of spendy but pretty cool. They hold the panel on with magnets, check it out:
