Differences between early 2nd gens and later?

I do prefer the pre98 climate controls though
There are 1998 12v Quad Cabs. They are not growing on trees, but they are not exactly rare, either. They are however, popular trucks and most people price them accordingly.
Yeah, what's that, only a couple of thousand $$$s?
The 24v is easier to get more power out of with the plug 'n play boxes. The 12v is less expensive if you do the work yourself. I've also heard that the 24v heads are more prone to cracking. Personally, I'd rather have the proven greater mechanical reliability of the 12v engine.

I paid 395 for the FASS, and 1200 for the VP. Installed them both myself. I also installed the Edge EZ myself as well as the RV275's. I now have a very reliable truck, as reliable as any 12V and I average over 20MPG on every tank. That's with the 6spd and 4:10s. How many of you 12V guys can say that?
If you notice, 395 plus 1200 equals 1,595.00. That does not equate to thousands in my book, not by a long shot. And I see that you are running the NV4500. How many people on this site have had to have the 5th gear on thier 4500 fixed. Quite a few that I can think of. How many people have upgraded the 4500 to the 5600? Quite a few right, how much money do you think that costs? Even if you can do the job yourself. I'm not trying to get into a peeing match with ya here bud. There are positives and negatives with either 12V or 24V. All that I am saying is that I prefer my 24V. Obviously you prefer your 12V. Case closed.

There is some good info coming out of these debates! Thanx! However I'm not feeling anymore inclined to buy a 24V though, but then I'm a HD mechanic and like to do my own tinkering.
