Differences in stock springs for 2nd Gens?

I've been curious as to the differences in the springs throughout the run from 94-02. My 95 has a broken rear spring. I would like to lift my 97 about an inch in front, maybe 2 in the rear, as it sits pretty level now. All the newer trucks I see, and park next to, seem to sit higher, even on the same sized tires. They definately have the rear high stance that I'm looking for. Also, I've been told that Sport package trucks, have higher rate springs that cause them to sit higher. And are the overloads on the newer trucks interchangeable to other spring packs, or are they integral and only useable with those packs? Either way is fine, just wondering what I need to get my hands on. Thanks in advance.

There's many different spring rates for the front springs that I know of. If you go to geno's garage page you can access a tech page that lists all of the different springs available for the front coils. Some guys run stock 3500 springs to raise the ride height a little bit, I opted for the 2" levelling kit spacers since my stock springs were already the heavy ones. plus there are a lot of aftermarket spring manufacturers that make springs. Search on 2nd gen performance and accessories for some input on this. As for the rears, I've read that they are very similar if the rear axles are the same, but you should check your trucks gvw to be sure. You could opt for airbags also. I'm not sure if the camper package has more arc in the rear or not. My truck sits pretty high in the rear when empty. You might see if someone local has installed a lift kit and still has the stock rear leaf's for sale. Sometimes these are pretty barely used and will bolt right in if the rear axles are the same,ie Dana 70 etc. Good Luck, Kurt
