Is this a deal?
I'm looking at two trucks. First is 2001 larimie dooley 70,000 mi. This truck is loaded up price is 24,500 leather etc. The other one is a2002 with 50,000 mi. with extended warr. 7/70 it doesent have as many options but i think i would prefer the single wheel on the latter one. Can anyone tell me what changes were made from 2001 to 2002? oh yea the price on the 2002 2500 is 23,000 these are both cummins auto. 4x4.

If you are interested in the 2002 with 7/70 make sure the warrenty is transferable. I thought i remember the 7/70 warrentees were for original purchaser only but i can be wrong..

Other than the obvious differences 2001 3500 dually and 2002 2500 fleet side, they should be about the same mechanicaly. Other than the rear disc brakes not much changed.
2002 2500 with less miles and fleet side.... just my .02

You don't list your location: You may want to think twice before buying a dualie if you live in snow territory. They are a much greater handful (even as 4wd) in the snow.

Not all 2500 have 70s, I have an 80 in mine. It sounds like you really don't want the dually anyways. The 02 has less miles, possible warranty, and less money. Sounds like a pretty easy choice to me. The only reason that you would need a dually is if you are hauling alot, they have a higher payload. But other then that there really isn't that much difference other then brakes.

My early 01 has discs. Looks like all 6spds had a hybrid 80 and Duallies have full floating 80. Some 5spd manuals had the hybrid 80 too? All autos are standard output with Dana 70.

The 01.5's also have an front axle disconnect so that the transfer case does not spin all the time. They change this on the 02's. It is like the hubs are always locked in on the fords. You get positive engagement with no hesitation, but fuel economy may be lower.
