Smile Crusie contol system ...?

Hi Guys
I just finshed up instaling my new gel red tops ... I had to replace the crusie control cable due to the acid from the battery leaking on it for a few years .

The vacume can looked like it was in pretty good shape ... not to much leaking on that ... but the cable was toast.

I tried engaging the crusie on the way home from my shop ... it did not work ... I checked all the fuse's and the only fuse I found that was blown was a 40 amp what said it was for the trailer .

I did not have one of those funky fuse's ... I will get a few tomarrow, I was wondering if the crusie also has a relay I can check .

What other componants usually go bad and if there are some things I can test ... I just put a new TPS ... so I know it's not that .

Thanks

Greg

Is it not even engaging or is it having issues like kicking off or not locking in place?

I have the problem where every once in awhile it will actually work, the other times i set it and the truck takes off up to 80mph.

Underneath the driver's side battery is the cruise control module. You better inspect the vacuum lines to it and the control mod itself for vacuum leaks. Get a vaccum pump from a parts store and check it out. More than likely it's the module if you had battery acid leaking on it.

Besides the actuator a bad brake light switch often causes no cruise.
Try lifting up on the brake pedal with your foot and see if cruise works.
If it does replace the switch, about $12 at Napa.

Smile Fixed my Crusie...

Hi Guys

The crusie is the same fuse as the trailer connection ... plus I disconnected the rear trailer plug first ...it was full of rust ..
