I mounted mine to the box, and ran a ground cable to the frame.

i have mine mounted to the mirrors and they work fine.... however one of my buddies has his mounted to the tool box and ran grounds to the frame and they work great... doesn't seem like they would ground out on the tool box by themselves...

I ran mine on a Firestik stainless steel hood mount and they work fine. Wilson 2000 antenna and a souped up Galaxy 33 hml.

A little hard to see from this pic but I mounted mine to the tool box. I just made sure that where the plate mounted to the box, I removed the paint so I had a good ground contact and then I grounded the box to the bed.
