CB Antenna Mounting
CB Antenna Mounting
I am trying to find a good place to mount my CB antenna's. I was thinking about mounting one antenna on each mirror. Do yall think that this plastic is strong enough to hold an antenna??? If I put a spring on the antenna that will help out a bit. Just wondering yalls opnion. I can drill a hole in the mirror and run the cable with the wires through the door where the heated mirror wires run. Tell me what yall think. Thanks. Kyle
Could be wrong, but I don't think the mirrors will stand up to it. How about the front edge of the bed, or like I did, put a Morotola type NMO in the middle of the roof and get the best ground plane possible.
I mounted mine to the step bumper by the tail light. Just out of the way of the tailgate so it is not in the way of the tailgate swing. Use a 6-8' fiberglass whip with a black racquet/handball ball as a bumper so the whip does not hit the tail light. I used a heavy duty stainless roof mount and drilled a 3/8 hole (approx size) through the bumper plastic and through the bumper metal. The coax is not visible and runs up under the bumper. When not using the CB I unscrew the threaded antenea from the threaded mount and there is a 1-1/4 inch by 1-1/4 inch acorn shaped stainless roof mount sitting/bolted on the step bumper. Everyone always thinks I left a socket sitting on my bumper.

I am using the Firestick extended stake mount for my antenna. They make a regular version and an extended one that works with a cap. My SWRs are good and I have had no problems. I am running a Wilson 6' silverload antenna.
I bit the bullet and mounted mine in the center of my cab, the ran the coax down the piller between the passenger side doors and under the seat to my CB! Sorry I don't have a better picture of it. I mounted a Wilson 5000 Roof mount right behind the center interior light.
