Cab Lights and Dome Lights

Put some LED cab lights on truck, tapped into black and yellow IIRC wire on headlight switch harness. Now my dome lights stay on all the time. (before pulling bulbs out) When I was taking the headliner off I screwed up and busted one of the push light actuator switch mechanism deals on the overhead console. Are the lights on all the time because of where I tapped into the light source or because I messed up that switch? Also where can I get a new switch kit for that dome / map light?

The instructions I've read tell you to tap into that black/yellow wire on the headlight switch. Not sure about the map/light bulb.

I'm wondering if it could be the fact they are L.E.D. lights.

The L.E.D.'s is what got me wondering, I have L.E.D.'s for the dome / map lights, but they worked fine up until I put the cab lights on...

I think there needs to be a relay installed to run led cab lights.

I put recons with led bulbs for the clearance lights. and dont have the dome issue. I did tap into the wire that controls the dimming on the switch not the yellow and black.. I think I did it on accident and kept it cause I thought its cool.. but I have never been good with anything electrical.. (modern day omish)
try calling recon maybe they may have a suggestion cause they do led bulbs for those areas.. ??

Sounds like you jumped in on a constant power wire and need to find the wire that runs the auxilary lighting.

A multi-meter and a circuit tester are invaluable when playing with electronics, Luke.....

I tapped into the yellow/black wire too at the headlight switch. My map lights are broke also, found some on flea bay for around 30$ I think. I dont have the link, but they"re easy to find.
