Last year I changed my power steering fluid to a synthetic and has worked well. But now every time I turn the wheel it hums and vibrates, Also it hums when I push on the brakes. Also, when I hit the brakes the pedal thumps back at me just for a second. If I hold the brake down it does not keep going to the floor, so that is good. I am afraid it is the power steering pump. Tell me I am wrong.

Any help is appreciated.

 

Check fluid level hot right after shutdown, should be very little foam if any. If its low or foamy may need fresh fluid. I had the same symptoms in the cold snap we had a few weeks ago, turned out to just be very low on fluid.

It was low when I checked it last night......don't know where it all went. Will have to look into that I guess. It still hums very faintly still. If there are no visible leaks do you have an idea where the fluid went?
