A/C problems

My 02 Air Conditioning unit hardly works. Every now and then it cools for a few minutes. It works less when it is hot. Any notorious things to look for? Could the compessor be working very intermintently? Any ideas? Thanks

I have gone through 4 evaporators and 1 high pressure switch. The evaporators seem to made of a weak aluminum, I think. Not sure if there are any replacements that are better.
If you are not good with AC, I would suggest finding a good AC shop you trust. You live in the South, and i think AC is a necessity here, the summers are so freaking hot and long.
You may try adding some more 134A to see if that helps short term. You can get a chaging hose at most auto shops. The Low pressure side is up by the air cleaners, near the firewall. I take my Air cleaner top off for easier access.
It may take up o 1.5 cans, id it is leaking bad.

yep, if the compressor is running intermittently or very seldom, it may be low on charge which is easy to do, just pick up the coolant and a hose and follow the instructions. You should get a can of dye and find the leak, mine has been a pita with one thing after another leaking and needing to be replaced, it works now except stopped in traffic and even at speed it doesn't get below about 45-50 F out of the vent.

I'd pick up a hose and a couple cans of coolant and do a quick recharge for $15 or 20, if that fixes it then fill er up, if not then find a shop
