Brighter fogs

Do they make another bulb that will fit in the stock 2nd gen fog housings that's brighter than stock ?

I think the stock bulb is an #896.

I have a 3rd gen & did the low buck fogzilla mod on it with modifying the brighter bulbs to fit and it was a great improvement.

I just bought a 2001 2nd gen & would like to do the same thing on it if anyone knows of a brighter bulb that can be installed with or without modification.

I know I could go the hid route, but wanted to keep the cost down.

Ideas please..............

IMO save the hassle with the weak stock foggers. you can pick up a decent set of aftermarket fogs that are brighter for less than a 100 bucks. but as far as I know that bulb size your talking about I dont believe they make a better for it. the other problem is if you try and put to much heat on the stock lenses I'm sure you will be dealing with melting the lens.

I've asked this question before and got little help as well. Apparently there is no brighter bulb available. Not even something like a Silver Star bulb either. Everyone just kept telling me to go HID but I dont want to for cost and fabricating reasons. If you figure something out, please let me know.

Wonder if 3rd gen fogs would come close to fitting ?

Probably not enough clearance behind the bumper.

There are some 800 series HID kits with bulbs & ballasts on fleabay that can be had for about $35 shipped.

Haven't heard any one who's tried them on here though.

Actually I have read somewhere that you can use a different bulb but it involves hacking up the connectors, which I'm not willing to do.
