Re:No fogs?

My 99 did the same thing. It ended up being a bad headlight switch. After talking with the dealer about it they told me that there has been numerous problems with the 99s burning out headlight switches.

Re:No fogs?

Mine were bad whn I got the truck... I fixed the headlight switch myself.. a dollars worth of super glue vs. $48 for new switch.

Its an easy fix for a CRAPY design.

1. Pull the dash bezel off.
2. Locate switch and remove screws retaining it (2-3)
3. unplug swtich from wiring, be sure to slide red retaining clip before yanking on switch (I blew my switch up pulling on it)
4. find a big clean spot like kitchen table (ONLY if better half permits)
5. using a small screwdriver disect switch slowly, noticing how every thing goes back in.
6. while disasymbling Look VERY hard for a LOOSE small copper 2 winged hurricane looking piece, smaller than a dime.
This piece is your culprit.
7. This piece goes on the very back of the rod from the ****.
8. take your time and notice how flawed factory design has the copper hurricane held on with molded plastic and determine its orientation on the shaft. Try looking to see where the hurricane rides on the copper-ed sections on the circuit board when the switch it pulled out for fogs on. Play with it and you'll figure it out.
9. Once your sure of the orientation of the hurricane (it's not hard) super glue the hurricane back onto the rod. Be sure the boards already mounted on the shaft. Oh and don't glue your finger to it. :

10 reasymble and put back in dash just reverse of removal. Check and Go thru the night with fogs a blaring!!!

Hope this helps.
Re:No fogs?

might this same headlight switch be part of the reason my headlights have been really dim lately and why there is a hot plastic smell inside the cab?

I just hooked up a bunch of KCHilites that have been serving me well since my headlights have been all but worthless for the last week or so, not nearly as bright as normal

Ill get a new switch, thanks for the help guys =)

Re:No fogs?

Same here as well. I could pull the switch out and hold it and make the Fogs work but once you'd let it go they would go out. Mine was replaced under warranty but it's an EZ fix, just pop the dash overlay off and take out the screws that hold in the switch and unplug the old one. I think the switch is like $32, if I remember right. :

Good luck

DB
