Question High beams AND fogs?

Anybody know if you can jumper the fog lights to stay on with the high beams like we could on the 2nd gen trucks? It worked great on my '01.5, can I do it on my '05?

there is a way. I know that when you have both on, and you pull the brights switch back just a little bit before it clicks, brights and fogs are on. you just have to either hold it there or mess with it

yes, its possible though.

I tried just using a jumper wire to bypass the relay like we did on the 2nd gens. It worked but the fogs stayed on all the time, even when the truck was turned off. So back to the drawing board, I'm gonna keep messing around with it, just not today, too darn cold out there!

Good to know, however I believe the idea is to turn off the high beams (and consequently the fogs) when you meet oncoming traffic, at least that's what I was tought, besides a properly aimed fog light is quite low to the ground. Compared to the 130 watt KC lights I have controlled by the high beams the fogs are quite minor.

Spudman & triplenickel, I think your reversed in thought. Question is: Is there a way to keep fog/road lights on when you flip on the high beams!!!!. Right now, 2d and 3d generation lights switch off the fog/roads when you flip to high. And no, it's not a blinding light from the fogs; that's from the high beams. If you fogs are blinding oncoming traffic, they are set wrong. You can run as many as six headlights forward.

The fog lights don't throw a blinding beam, it's a short, wide, low pattern, not obnoxious, and it's currently only on when low-beam is selected (read...oncoming traffic). When the mod is made you can still see very well right in front of you as well as out in high-beam land.

I wired in a switch from the fog light + wire to the high beam+,so now the fogs work normally if my switch is off, then flip the switch and my fogs are on with the high beams a lot easier than holding your high beam lever halfway or wiring in a Brite box,and I can see at night on the highway!

I mean... if someone's coming at me with their brights on, doesn't really matter if their fogs are on, too.

I usually flash 'em to remind them. But, with our pitiful lights, no one seems to notice.

I just got it working on mine. Used a simple relay and just used the high beams to trip the relay. It's set up the same way as my big driving lights, high beam to trigger with a toggle switch on the dash in the trigger circuit. That way with the toggle off everything works just like stock. I did the fogzilla mod at the same time, I can't wait for it to get dark! Oh yeah FYI for the trucks with DRL's the toggle is definitley a must or you end up with all the auxillary lights on as the DRL's will fire the relay.

I'll have to go out tomorrow and take a shot of my setup... but I kust used a small wire and ran it from one relay to another in the fuse box under the hood. Now the fogs are on with the highs and the low beams. The only catch, they come on with the parking lights as well.

Just curious...why not use the fog light when you need them (like, in low visibility situations?), not just to have them on as some kind of vehicular fashion statement?

I see people running extra lights in the city on lighted roadways, after the sun is up, when the visibility is at least 10 miles. Why?

I come across ASSxxx with every fogs, headlights, silver headlights, pink headlights etc.every night/evening/daytime etc.VERY annoying1 I usually give them all FOUR of mine! All that junk hurts MY eyes.I drive rural and see quite well thank you with just my factory lights and no fogs or what not.One sindependent study that was posted a while back on TDR found all the so called extra wattage bulbs and differant tints really did NOTHING much in the candle power dept. The tints were a irritation to the HUMAN eye.Days of old these were given tickets and once a year a mandotory inspection including headlight AIM.I think thats the biggest problem.Improper aim.I know RANCHERS in the middle of NOWWHERE that you never see all this lighting do dad stuff on their trucks.

To each their own, in the land of monster moose I'll take all the light I can get. But the common point in both of your posts (CP and Hounddog) is irresponsible use. With everything tied to the high beams and able to be bumped to stock levels with a single switch I really don't see the problem.
