Brakes pulling hard to the left?

What would cause the brakes to pull hard to the left? My buddy's truck pulls really hard when you the brakes, and we checked the rotors and pads and they are good.

I am assuming its the right caliper being locked up and not engaging at all, or could it be something wrong in the hydraulic system and getting uneven pressure to the calipers?

What year?? If it has drum rears I would check for rt rear out of adjustment otherwise it could be a stuck caliper on the front right and not braking at all.
I have had pulling when braking on both sides and 1 of the 2 above always was the problem.

ya its drum rears, when i drove the truck its not just a pull to the left...it really feels like its in the front because the wheel will actually try to jerk out of your hands if you dont brace yourself before braking.

i always thought if it was rear, the truck would just kinda drift to one side, but this thing can rip the wheel out of your hands if you aren't ready for it.

Could be the flex lines for the front calipers. They break down over time on the inside and ballon when you hit the brakes.I repalced both of mine last year forthe same problem.

If it's a 4wd the trackbar could be worn out.
Very common.

track bar is bad and also needs replaced, but there is surely something in the brakes not working right.

Sounds like an issue with the right caliper, I had this happen on a 1998 1500 ram 4x4, I took off the calipers, pushed the plunger back in with a C-clamp, then bled all the brakes to flush through new brake fluid, the fluid was quite dark and I was told by a local mechanic that the impurities in the brake fluid can cause the caliper to bind. I thought he was joking when he suggested I flush my brake fluid, thought he was going to tell me to change my muffler belts as well, he was serious, brake fluid does need to be flushed.

I am going trew the same thing. Hit the brakes and if you dont hang on it get a little scary. I was told it could be the line's or worn caliper and or fluid needing to be flushed. Just had front end alignment. Along with a new steering gearbox, powersteering pump, tie rods and yes of course the 3rd trac bar. This weekend I am just going to get rid of all the problems with new rotors, calipers, lines and a good flusing we will see.

Mine was doing the same exact thing. Had rubber line that was bad on one side. Had it replaced and all was well.

correct me if i'm wrong but if the truck or car that pulls to the left would it be that the left front caliper stuck or draging or not releasing as much as the right side ,, thus pulling it to the side thats not full releasing from the rotor????

Good question, ratatouille -

It's all about front end alignment - the steering is adjusted so the tires are closer together at the front of the axle than at the rear - right tire is aimed left, left tire is aimed right - it's called toe-in - thus, with camber and caster, the right brake will cause the right tire to turn - pull - left, left brake will pull to the right.
