On a trip over the weekend all at once upon heavy breaking the truck started pulling to the left. I have done a search and found some discussion about checking hoses and lubrication the caliper bolts. Is there any type of equization valve in this system that could have a block?

More than likely you have a caliper hanging up. If you haven't flushed your brake fluid every other year (like you are suppose to ) then its corrosion in the caliper. I would start with the left one and just replace it with a rebuilt one, or better yet do both and flush the entire system. The left one seems to go first.

Brake fluid is the most neglected fluid in your truck.

Often the "brake pull" on these trucks is caused by the REAR brakes. Adjust them every now and then!
The self-adjusters are a joke.
