brake problems
i have had brake problems with my truck. i replaced the front rotors, pads, rear drums and rear shoes at 55,000 because the front rotors could not be turned agian. i now hav 64,000 miles on it and the front pads are already gone . has anyone had this same problem?
It's probably because your rear brakes aren't doing their share of the stopping.
These trucks are notorious for the rear self adjustors to not work, best to adjust by hand every oil change. You should also upgrade to larger rear cylinders so the rears work harder. Napa #4637337 work excellent for about $12 each and a couple hours of work.
Could also be that you are using too soft of a pad.
Is there a lot of brake dust?
Carbo-Met pads are the best match for our rotors and trucks.

I last changed front pad and rotors at 55k. I now have 134k on the truck. I used Werner pads up front. I pulled them today. Rotors are still good and the pads still have at least 1/4" left on them. These were lifetime pads. The shop that did the work will charge the labor to renew the pads. The pads will be free. Paid $ 85.00 for them.
Pulled the rears two days ago, looked good. Reajusted the E-Brake and then used the E-Brake to stop the truck from 30 mph. That brought them to center and I felt alot more pedal after that. The self adjusters don't work very well.
