Re:Brake pad changeout

2 bolts hold each caliper on. They are 3/8ths hex head, commonly called ALLEN.

Re:Brake pad changeout

I just use plain old C-clamps to push the puck back down.
Greg

Re:Brake pad changeout

Just remember to use the old pad w/the clamp. Don't use the clamp on the caliper piston

Re:Brake pad changeout

And unscrew the bleeder when you press the piston back so you don't push crud in the lines into the ABS controler.

Re:Brake pad changeout

When I compress my calipers, before I loosen anything, I just stick a pry bar between the old pad and the rotor or between the pad and the caliper piston and pry it back in. Geting between the pad and to rotor is preferrable as it evens out the pressure against the piston. Much quicker and simpler than a C-clamp. Has worked for me for 15 years.

Chris

What Stamey said, been doing that since the disks came out years ago. Just pry them back before you take anything apart.

Re:Brake pad changeout

Got 'em changed. The retaining bolts were a torx/star type. After spending 45 minutes going through my tool box and a couple other mechanics boxes, I found one that fit. After that it was a piece of cake. Only took about an hour.
Guess I'll buy some more tools.
Sounds like the start of a new thread. "Tools, the ones I've always wanted."
Hey Top and Gonzo, what do ya think?

shortround out
