This is a wix...$25 from www.filterone

I added the pre filter...it keeps out the rocks, and small kids

Colin
Re:BHAF
To: Marine:
So, if I understand this BHAF thing, it frees up air flow, which gives more HP and lowers EGT ? I noticed in the picture that the filter looks like it is just sittin there....Is it OK to do that ? Is there a better way or is this OK..?
Just trying to find a way to make it more efficient, pick up some horses, keep it as cool as possible and not pay an arm/leg for stuff....:-) :-)
Appreciate any info. you can provide..
01' Ram 2500,auto,2WD,LWB,tow/comper pkg, all stock stuff..(so far)
Thanks,
Tony ...
Re:BHAF
Dodgeman01, I went from a K&N to the BHAF. It's about the same for airflow. Cooldown for the turbo (based on EGT's) is roughly the same as the K&N. Will you see a difference between the K&N and the BHAF? Not much. Except in my case, I stopped getting oil in my intakes from the filter. ;D
Re:BHAF
Do you get a decent amount of turbo noise with the BHAF? I had a lot with the AFE but I hate the oil so I went back to the stock box and filter. Truck runs fine, but I want some more noise on that turbo!
Re:BHAF
Jack,

I went from a K&N stock box to a BHAF with the heat shield. Turbo sound is about the same maybe slightly louder. Sounds good, not objectionable. I did notice better pick up at highway speeds. Can't say if it will help mileage - probably will hurt as I now keep my foot on the floor to hear the turbo. I changed for the same reason - don't like oil in the intake that's being sucked out of the filter. Can't say if it lowers or raises EGT as I don't have any gauges - I just go with "stick your head in the sand driving"
Finally, Jack I sent you a PM a while ago - did you get it?

Re:BHAF
VSS, I don't remember seeing the pm. It might have gotton lost during my backup nightmare that occured the other day when I was upgrading the forum. Can you send it to me again? Thanks for the info btw.
Re:BHAF
TonyP- The posts after yours pretty much says it all. More air. However, if it is really hot air like in the desert, a fresh air intake would be better. The air would be a little cooler. But it is all relative I guess. More air flow-hotter air compared to cooler air flow-alot less air (stock air box). You can pretty much see that most everyone that changed over from stock, sees a big difference.

Mike

I got one a BHAF at BMD Dyno Day remember? Well all I had was a mopar paper filter in my box and I noticed a dramatic difference in EGT's while towing, and running interstate. ;D Plus more turbo whine [undecided] I want a Scotty II but that would mean even more Turbo Whine! :'( Don't get me wrong I like listening to my turbo, but I get into moods where I'd rather hear the radio!
Re:BHAF
Does anyone have a pic of the BHAF installed with the heat shield?

I am having one built as I write (my Dad runs a machine shop ;D), but I would like to see what it is going to look like!
