i jusr bought a set from sams and they would not install them since they were not 10 ply tires wo i brought them to another place and had them installed they rode great except for vibration at 70. brought them back to where i had them installed and they put them back on the balance machine only to find out that 2 of the 4 tires were out of round. now according to the people that instaleed them they told me that they cant even get that type from bfgs they were told that they are made only for sams and walmart(sounds like seconds to me) well to make a long story short i also found out that no one that new they were not for my truck would even fix them if i had a flat for insurance reason so i brought them back and got some cooper all terrian for almost double the price. by the way they were discountining them and they were on sale for 90 dollars a piece. now that is in louisiana about them not fixing the tires i dont know about everywhere else. not fair in my book a light tire truck should be usable on all lt trucks a better ride also.

My 295/75/16 BFG A/T tires have almost 25,000 miles and have at least half the tread left, look almost new. All highway driving.
my dad's 265/75/16 load range E A/T tires have barely lasted him 2 years and under 20,000 miles and are near bald. All gravel roads with a cattle trailer behind him. He is not happy with his son's recommendation since they cost so much.

Sorry, though, no pics of them which is what the thread was about.

I had the BFG A/T 285/75/16 E & they were shot at 25k. They shook so bad (from day 1, with many attempted balancings) that I could not wait to get them off.

They are no longer selling/rating tires by the ply rating, they are now referring to the weight number. For instance both of these tires have a 123 weight rating.
It's how they handle that weight though.

Look at an E rated tire side by side with a D rated tire with the same weight on them.
D bulges much more on the sidewall.

Now picture that bulge as the tire is rotating, it would be like taking a piece of rubber and bending it back and forth, tip to tip all day long.
Eventually that piece of rubber is going to stiffen up and break.

E rated has much less bulge, so it would be like taking the same piece of rubber and just slighty bending it back and forth all day long, it will last much much longer before it starts to stiffen up.

Air pressure plays a huge part as well.
My D rated BFG 315's could handle 3195lbs at 50psi.
My new E rated 315's can handle 3860lbs at 65psi.
My original E rated 265's can handle 3415lbs at 80psi

Thats a lot more air between you and the road with an E rated tire.

If you were falling off a roof, would you rather land on a 10 inch thick air mattress (D rated) or a 15 inch thick air mattress (E rated).

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

i have bfg a/t k/o's in 285's they came on my truck when i bought and they were looking pretty new. now after almost 14k the front look pretty good still, but the back are quite worn for obvious reasons, and they have chunks of tread missing. but they suck in slush, any wet conditions really they work good on rocks, and dirt, and snow, but if theres any mud or wet grass forget about it. i've heard lots of good things about the m/t's but im not even gonna try them, once i get the 1200 i need for my denman ground hawg's im putting those on in 36x14.50x16.5 should be a big improvement.

heres a few pictures.

I finally got to test my all terrains, which are basically new. Went to an auction where they were pulling in people to park them.haha(not a good sign)
They did alright goin in, then on the way out after the other trucks had rutted it up good--by being pulled out. I made if further than most people by about 30ft, but needed another 20ft. Going up a slight hill the front just sank into the ground. Guess i need to put my mud terrains back on.

I ran the BFG TKO's in a 285 at max load and pressure, They do not seem to like heavy loads and gravel roads. The tread chunked out quickly and the tires left me with 3 of them with broken belts (visible steel) at 35% tread remaining. I think they are a great all around tire and do very well in the wet and dirt. I think the majority of their applications do not see them in the conditions I put then thru which makes them very popular. They seem a bit pricey as compared to others?

You may want to look at the GoodYear Silent Armour and it's commercial alternate.
It is about the same as BFG AT KO, at least when I looked. I got the 235/85/16 E for about $150, including hazard insurance. You have to shop & negotiate to get there. they seem to be liked by many. If you want expensive, look at Michelien.
