Battery Clamps

Anyone replaced their batter clamps???

Mine are stretched and don't grip the battery post properly anymore. Problem being the big cables on the truck and all of the other wires that go with them are molded into the original clamps.... Iwant to cut the old clamps off and replace them.

I did just that on the drives side battery cables doesn't look worth a hoot, though it has a good soldered connection now. Someday when I win the lottery I'll fix all the little things that nag me.

The way I fix loose clamps that seems to work very well is get a little piece of copper pipe or an older penny before they started making them out of aluminum. Pound it thin or put it on the railroad tracks and let the train do it. Use this to wedge in-between the post and clamp.

I usually just trim out some of the lead in the open part of the clamp. This will allow the bolt to draw it tighter on the battery post.

Not really. The clamps are made from a copper nickle alloy already.
