i have a alpine 9856 cda stereo in my truck added the aux. cord to the back of radio hooked it up to my mp3 player nothing. have radio on aux. setting whats up with this any stereo gurus out there?

 

What kind of mp3 player? do you have a screen saying the song is playing AND volume is turned up.

I had an old Ipod with no screen and everytime you unplugged the headphone jack the song stopped and sound went to 0. had to hit play and up the volume.

no its playing on the the mp3 can see the song on the screen just like when i use it in my tractor just nothing thru the speakers in the truck.

 

Check page 18 of the manual (link below). It seems like you might be fighting with the automatic mute.
