Ipod/AUX input for stock radio
Ipod/AUX input for stock radio
This may have already been covered, but maybe someone else can benefit from this as i have.
I've got the stock CD (w/ changer controls) radio in my '04 and have been wanting to be able to use the ipod/satellite radio in the truck. The options were replace the radio with an aftermarket radio, or use an FM modulator.
I tried a few FM modulators and was never happy with any of them. Swapping out the deck for an aftermarket unit is just not of any interest to me. I actually like the simplicity, and ergonomics of the Chrysler radios. Nice big buttons, twisty vol. ****.... ya'know.
So, after way too much searching i finally settled on this kit that allows me to use the unused CD changer port on the back of the stock radio. The ipod connects into it, and everything is a direct, hardwired connection. Nothing gets transmitted thru the air. So NO STATIC !
Bought the kit from Amazon - (search: PIE XM5-CHRY02 - this particular kit also has a 5v output to power my Sirius satellite receiver, so that solves another wiring isssue. Then i also purchased: PAC IS335 3.5 Audio Input for the dash mount input jack)
The kit was $50 and the input cable was $10.
Here are some install pics. While i was at it, i also installed an additional 12v power outlet in the blank plug in the dash next to the glove box.
