Just a question from a newbie to Dodges, is the cab and chassis a dana 70 or 80? I am going to put a flatbed on my 2500 and would consider a dual wheel rear if it wouldn't stick out so far. My truck is a 98 with a d70 rear, I assume the cab and chassis rear is a narrower 80 with heavier springs, correct? Where I live (philly) the streets are narrow and a wide dually is a PITA.

I don't know why some people are saying a Dually is bad in the snow? I drove wreckers in Pennsylvania for 20 years in all kinds of snow and a few blizzards that shut down everything. I had no issues at all compared to a single, I pulled a lot of single wheel trucks out of snow drifts I don't remember ever pulling a dually out except for a rookie that put his truck in a Creek in the summer . If its bad enough throw some chains on the outside tires .

The weight of the wrecker bed is what made it work well for you. Trust me a unloaded dually truck rear end is more squirrelly in the snow in 2wd than is a SRW with a similarly un loaded bed.

In 4x4 they both do pretty well, but the dually rear axle will try to float up on the snow with the larger contact point of the 4 tires in the rear.

Snow is already on the ground here and will be for the next 6 month. I get plenty of seat time on snowy roads.
