315/70R17 I believe is probably the best size for price (they are H2 OEM size) and probably the biggest you can go without a lift... 285/70R17s for nice lookingness (?) and driveabilityness....

Truck is stock height. I was thinking 265/70-17, but now I am second guessing that choice. I haven't made any purchases yet. I was a bit concerned with anything bigger I may have issues with rubbing.

I got the stock Michelins on mine and they look kinda skinny and short. I'm gonna bump em up a size or two when I need toreplace them.

I have 285/70-17's on my '01 and they rub on the bottom track link ( whatever the name) when I cut hard to the left or right. My speedo is off about 6% I think with the bigger tires. They look much nicer than the stock 265's. I put on a trail cutter a/t, looks and rides great but a bit noisy and with the cummins you just have to crank up the radio a bit.
