Their is an early and late version of the shift tower. The early one had a slip on shift lever and the later had a thread in shift lever.

Yep, early had a push and turn handle retention and 98 up handle assy is retained buy 4 bolts.

Which style do you need?

Well this one was on a 98 12valve truck if that helps. I'll take a picture of it and post it up.

If they both fit the transmission it doesn't really matter to me which style it is

They do not interchange between the two. If it's a 98 it should be the later style with the threaded shift lever. However if you know dodge well enough you know in a change year like 98 anything is possible, kinda like 1998 extended cab trucks without the rear opening doors. I beleive I saw a picture in your truck thread and if I recall correctly it was the later style but a pic would help clarify it.

Oh, you are looking for the whole Aluminum assy, complete with handle?

Sorry, I don't have one the whole thing spare......

I believe the Chevy one bolts on as well, if that helps you find one though, they are all 4 bolt threaded rod style.

Yes I'm looking for the whole thing, the transmission came out of a truck that suffered a cab fire so the shifter was pretty burnt. The boot around the shift tower is melted too. I'm home tonight so I'll take a picture and post it

Also going to post a wanted ad for 2nd Gen manual trans pedal set if anyone has those available too

That is the '98 and up style and it looks like it was saw-z-alled off just below where the shifter was screwed into it.
You will need a '98 style shifter and base.
I don't have a spare, but at least you know what you are looking for now.

Ok thanks, the shifter and a bunch of plastic were melted and I just cut it off. In hindsight I probably should of cut it off higher.

It seems to shift ok though, are new dust boots available anywhere? I could just die some threads onto it and make a shifter

That hindsight is a real biatch.
You might easily be able to cut some threads into what is left.
I will E-mail you a picture of a stock shifter stub on a NV-5600 I have in the corner of my shop. The later NV-4500 and NV-5600 both have the same shifter stub design.
