Thumbs down year 2000, no turn over or start

I have had a starting problem of for a while. I was told by a mechanic that if I could jump the two terminals on the starter and the engine started, then it should be the starter.

Well I did that and the engine starts and delayed changing out the starter for a while.

I finally changed it out today and I get the same result. No start, no turn over or engine light. Not even a click out of the engine.

What else could it be?

Thanks

Trent

I would suspect a starter relay. That would be where I would start looking.

I would assume follow the red cable back up to see where the starter relay is, or is it one of the small relays in the fuse box under the hood?

Thanks for the reply.

I would start with this too...first probably. Relays run a little cheaper than starters.

It is your starter solenoid fuse. There is a TSB out on this. Ask me how I know.....
Change the fuse from a 20amp to a 25amp. That is the temp fix by Dodge for this.
I am going to go to the dealership someday and get the TSB kit and fix mine the right way. It is working fine for now.

That is odd. I had the truck at the dealer last april for a crank sensor replacement. The paperwork mentioned some other recall work, but I cannot remember what. I think it was seat belt latch or something.

I will go out and take a look at all this good info so far. Thanks
