Wont Start
Wont Start
Truck ran fine yesterday... This morning I went out to crank it and it would not start. I did the key on, key off thingy to check for codes and all I got was P Done. It seems like it is not getting fuel. Anybody out there know what this could be?
Any help would be greatly appreciated....

Dodge senders aren't known for their accuracy or reliability.
After you've confirmed you have fuel, check the fuel filter cannister.
Make sure there is fuel in there and your filter isn't plugged up.

Thanks for the quick reply as I am stuck and sitting around waiting for some help on this forum. I have done every thing you mentioned, I even changed the fuel filter just to make sure. It doesn't seem like fuel is getting to the filter cannister, I know the tank is full so that's not an issue. Could this be the Lift Pump? All related fuses check out as well...
Thanks again...
Thanks again...
If you have access to an air compressor, you can try to pressurize the fuel tank (I wouldn't suggest more than 4 or 5 pounds of air pressure for a few seconds at a time) to try to get fuel to the filter canister and the Injection pump.
See if you can get it to start.
If not you might have to crack loose a couple of the injector lines at the head to bleed the air out of the fuel system.
If this gets it running.........next step, get a new lift pump and a fuel pressure gauge so you can monitor the lift pump.

Thanks Shovelhead...
Let me ask a question before I pressurize the fuel tank...can I manually put fuel in the fuel cannister to try and get it cranked....
Even after doing all of this and it doesn't crank would you still point towards the lift pump?
Thanks Tom

OK...here the latest.. cracked open the injectors, cranked the truck 3 times for about 20 seconds each and nothing...no fuel and no start.
I have called every Napa within a 20 mile radius and nobody has the lift pump.
Before I go to a dealer do all signs point towards the Lift pump?
Thanks for all the help guys...

Asking the dealer's price for a new lift pump requires you to sign a waiver and have a medical team with a Crash Cart on immediate standby.
Look here for your closest Cummins parts supplier or your local yellow pages for a diesel injection service parts supplier and save yourself about $100.
All symptoms you have posted so far point to either a bad lift pump, or a clogged fuel supply line.

you can also put a pusher on there, ya should have one any how, while it is not a replacement for the lp, you can push through the lp in most cases, the carter @ NAPA cost me $108ish and comes with everthing except a relay, wire, and 30r7 hose, it had brackets hose nipples, and the like, I reccemond getting some better clamps then what they give you, Mine uses the stock lp as a trigger for my relay so they work in tandem....BTW....when I changed my injectors last time it took about four cycles of the key to get the fp up and two or three cranks of 5-10 secs and she was lit.
