WIX fuel filter

I did my first fuel filter change last night. What an ordeal...I didn't re-read the information on here to understand that I needed to loosen the plugs on the filter top and then cycle the lift pump. Long story short, air in the lines and I had to bleed the injectors. Started right up after that.

Is there any thoughts on the WIX filter #33349? I noticed that the slots in the top of the filter (in the plastic) are very small compared to the old filter. Would this effect flow? I do not know what brand the old one is.

My truck is bone stock, so I'm guessing it is OK. If I start adding power, should I look for a specific filter?

Thanks,

Nathan

Welcome to DTR !

One thing that would help us out with your question is knowing the year of your truck. Please fill in your signature with trucks info (go to the User CP for this).

And again, Welcome!

its the fuel filter # for a 97-99 but that doesn't help much.

So I take the cap off
Take the old filter out
Drain the bowl
Put the new filter in
Fill it with diesel
Then hit the starter without starting it?

is this the correct way to change the fuel filter?

That’s the way I do it. I don’t drain the can all the way. But yes it sounds like you are doing it right. I have never had a problem with it, but my dad’s truck has never liked to start back up after a filter change. Always have to open up some fuel lines to get restarted.
