I was under the truck putting the driveshaft back in (new U joints) when I noticed that the ground strap between the cab and the bed had been cut, Both the ring terminals are still there but the wire or strap has been cut right at the end of the terminal. Is there some reason that somebody would do this? Something to do with towing a 5er?

 

It could have at one point in its life a had a body lift.

 

Or the rear bed or cab had been changed. I saw a dakota once that the strap was cut because they changed the bed and were to lazy and/or stupid to unbolt the strap.

 

It might have had an aftermarket flatbed on it. Cowboys put them on and then replace them with the original bed when they get a new truck.

 

Hey now just because we take the beds off of them dont mean were all dumb as a post then I notice your a Pac NW too hrmm hrmm hrmm good thing i live eastern oregon in buckaroo country

 

Hmmmm Well I bought the truck from the original owner and he was not a cowboy for sure it's 2WD, I'm sure there was never body lift, if you were replacing the bed or removing/lifting for service/repair I don't think you would cut the strap. I just can't think of any reason why you would want to leave it cut, guess I'll reattach it. Thanks guys

 

Are you stereotyping? I don't think it's just Cowboys. I really don't think a cowboy's truck would be saleable when they are done with it anyway.

 

Ain't that the truth got few of them around here the latest one that died was from a front end collision to a south bound bull that i attempted to turn

 

Probably cost to much to get the spit stains off the side of the truck!! What am I talking about anyway. My northern boss and his sidekick refer to people out in the back country here in Tennessee as my kin folk, or my kind of people. What's he mean by that?

NO! NO! NO! After re-reading what I wrote that sounded bad. It was meant to mean whomever cut it may have not been the owner....maybe a shop guy or something. Many Montana Dodges are wearing aftermarket flatbeds, not the stock beds, and my dad noticed the 'help' at some of the places that work on trucks over there aren't the brightest. Also, my brother in law will have my skin if he reads that first comment, you all will have to get in line and there might not be much left! No Offense meant! Kurt
