if you search silencer ring you should find all the info on removing it. you wont gain any power by removing it but you will hear your turbo alot more, especially with an aftermarket intake.

I am looking for the snap ring to put mine back in! With my new Nanofilter, it is pretty annoying! I love the turbo singing, but it is clashing with my tunes! Plus, the better half won't like riding with me anymore, since it is worse for the front passenger.

If you take off the intake hose from turbo and airfilter box you have a lot of room to work there will be a black ring infront of a funnel looking thing, the funnel looking thing is the silencer, theres a gap in the ring usually on the upper left hand corner of turbo the ends are beveled, use a flathead screwdriver to pop the ring out then the funnel will come loose and take it out too, dont put the snap ring back on unless you put the funnel back on also, good luck should take about 2 min, anymore questions just ask.

so as i understand it...a silencer ring can be removed and put back in without doing ANY damage to the turbo???? say for instance i remove it and then drive it around town and on the freeway to get a feel for how it sounds and say i dont like it because it is toooooooooo loud...i can then put the funnel thing back in and the ring and then connect the intake back to that and it should be just like stock with no ill effects....

thanks

YES. As long as you don't damage the tin or the lock ring.
