Where to get another NV5600 ??????

Mine six speed is toasted. I took it out today and the gears look good as much as I can see but the input bearings is super loose and who knows from there. So i need a rebiuld or another used one or something. Is this something I can trust to a local tranny shop to rebiuld? Should I do it myself? Who does good manual transmission rebiulds I guess. Has anybody had any luck with the ones on ebay? Thanks for any help! Blair

it's got about 100-110k on it. Amsoil, never seen a gooseneck, previous owner only towed in 5th (ran 35's), Houston area, in the next month or two

I don't think I can wait that long as its my work truck. Its been replaced by a 1978 F150 which just isn't cutting it. Thanks though, Blair

I had to replace mine about a year ago. I checked carpart.com. The best deal I found in my area was a rebuilt $2700 plus core two year unlimited mile warranty. Any used I could find weren't much cheeper and had no warranty, all the salvage yards know what there worth. Checked into rebuilding myself, but to many special (and very expensive) tools needed.

if its just bearings rebuild it. but...let a qualified shop do it. the 5600 is unlike any other tranny, new bearings and labor should be less than half the cost of a new tranny and will take about a week. find a manual tranny shop in your area and call them to see if they do tranny's that big or if they know anyone.
