6 Speed Hydraulic Clutch question
6 Speed Hydraulic Clutch question
My clutch linkage is going out, and I am shopping for replacements. O'Reilly Auto Parts will sell me the master or the slave, separately, but the factory manual says it is serviced as a unit and many here have said that it is a bear to bleed, if not impossible. However one fellow I saw here said you could bleed it on the truck by following a certain procedure.
Still the South Bend kit sure is inviting.
Question 1. Can I just get a master and slave at the parts store (Sachs is half the price of Raybestos) and bleed it in the truck like the fellow said?
Question 2. Would any of the advedrtizers here that sell the South Bend kit please PM me a price?
Many thanks

I have changed out the clutch hydralics many times and don't know of any way of bleeding them in the truck which works. Best way to do it is to take the whole assembly out and bleed it, and seal it up, on the bench. Then reinstall the whole assembly, as a unit, just like you had to do with the factory replacement before the they began selling them in two piece assemblies. Not hard to do...takes me 10 minutes to get one out and 15 minutes to reinstall it...and I'm not a mechanic.
By the way, the slave hardly ever goes out, it's the master which almost always fails. So save your money.
