What's that little hatch on the bottom of the bellhousing?..

What's that little hatch on the bottom of the bellhousing?..

While changing the oil last Sunday, I noticed a little "wetness" around that little hatch on the bottom of the bellhousing. It's attached by small bolts. What's that hatch for? The wetness appears to be crankcase oil.

That is a torque converter inspection plate. Remove it to inspect your TC. On your DTT TC there will be a drain plug, if you ever want to change all the fluid you can drain that to. If the fluid is oil you could have a rear seal leaking. I would pull it and take a look.

Thanks Bill. I'll pull it as soon as I get a decent day. If it is the rear seal, I need to get it before the truck is out of 7/100K warranty. No drips yet, just wet. Thanks!

BBD, you mean there's oil pan bolts up there besides the torque converter?

OK I'm a little confused. Isn't a DTT an aftermarket transmission? If so, why would DC warrant the rear seal on the engine if it's been "modified"?
