What's that little thing at the bottom of the radiator?

Two times now, I have shut my truck off...and had some anti-freeze puddle up under the drivers side.

I looked and looked and couldn't find anywhere I thought it was leaking.

Then I pulled of the windshield squiter tank...and think I may have found it.

There is a little thing...near the bottom, on the inside (motor side, drivers side also) that I could turn a quarter of a turn and then back again...but nothing came out????? I am thinking this is some sort of drain valve built in to the radiator..and it may be kind of plugged up (since nothing came out when I turned it a quarter turn).

Anway, I turned it back where it was, put the thingl back together..and it didn't do it again for a few days...then all of a sudden,...a puddle of antifreeze on the ground again.

Has this happenned to any of you...I cannot figure out what it is.

It's called a petcock and you use it to drain the radiator. On our trucks turn it counter clockwise a 1/4 turn and "gentle" pull it out.

You mean that thing comes completely out?????

Do you think if I pull it out....
Then clean everything well,

Then put it back again...

My problem will be fixed????

Or am I going to be stuck buying a new radiator at some point.??

You won't pull it all the way out. 1/4 turn, pull, and then another 1/4, and it'll start draining.
