what year of chip to order

I have a 2000 2500, I do not know what chip will work, the 1998.5-2000 or the 2001-2002. My truck is registered as a 2000 but I seem to have a 2001 set up. How can I identify this and order the correct chip. I have a black valve cover, if this helps. Thanks

Look at your data link cable. If the 3 wires are flat like trailer plug, 01+ if the 3 are in a triangle 98.5+

Your data link plug will be down near your power steering reservoir and Injector Pump. Should have a cover on it (to keep moisture and dirt out of the plug) that you can just pop off

Yep, mine is located about midway, front-to-back, along the drivers side of the block, laying on the frame rail. If you see a plug that looks like it should be plugged into something and isn't, thats probably it.

Mine is a 2000 and manufactured in 99......I have the flat data link connector and mine uses the 98.5-00 boxes and sensors.

235HP SO with 1.25 input 6 speed.

Didn't the 01 trucks get rear disk brakes ?

The rear brakes changed part way through the '01 model year on the 2500s. I'm not sure about the 3500s.

Mine has the data plug at the lift pump, flat connector, oval map sensor with the pins in a line, no crankshaft position sensor, I can flash codes on my odometer, but I have drum brakes. Is this a sure thing that I am safe to buy the 2001-2002 edge or tst?

Tough one......I think I would call Edge (or whatever brand you are interesed in) and see what they recomend. I suspect the map sensor connector will be what gives it away.

If you'd have interest in a used Edge Comp I have mine for sale off my 02', with the Scheid anti-defueling device for $325.

Your truck would require the adaptor from my flat style to your round style, but I would by that (they're $35) and include it at no extra cost.

Just letting you know.

I emailed TST to ask what the difference was and thet said the map sensor and the crankshaft position sensor. My brother has a 1999 with edge and he has the cps mine doesn't and we have different MAP plugs so I am going to assume mine is the 2001 chip. If anyone knows any reason to believe this won't be right let me know, thanks for all the help.
