DTT recommends +3 or dexron.

I've ran both amsoil synthetic and now I've been running dextron/mercon. I would not mix fluids.

Find out what you already have in use.

Any synthetic ATF will be fine. There are no complications adding 1 quart to top it off.I know Scott used to use amsoil.....

What does DTT do to a trans the warrants the use of Dexron versus the stock ATF +3 or +4? Just curious.

I'm a manual guy, so this doesn't affect me, but I'd like to know.

Bill K. will never tell. I think it has to with the clutch material they use in their rebuild kits.

ATF 4 should be used using dextron makes the clutches bite harder but also wears them out faster and ATF 4 can handle hire temps the best thing todo is use lube guard automatic transmission protectant with you trans its $16 a bottle but works miracles www.mlsna.net carries it. we have 3 trucks 47re trans with 300+ k on the trannies all factory original trannies no issues and all of them are trailer rigs

There in lies the problem with your recommendation. A DTT tranny is not a factory original. DTT specifically recommends +3 and NOT to use +4. They also state NOT to use any modifiers or additives in the oil without first calling them for approval.

I topped mine off with a Quart of Synthetic ATF +4, I was told that +3 was no longer made and that the ATF +4 replaces +3
