What size NPT on Fuel Filter?

I am installing my gauges and I need to know the kind and size of the NPT fitting on my fuel filter for my Fuel pressure gauge. I am stopping off at a hydraulic shop aftger work today to get a hose made up for the gauge. I need to know is the NPT a female or male ON the filter housing. Is it 1/8" or a 3/8" fitting.

Thanks

Dima

The hole you'll be connecting to is an 1/8 NPT female fitting.

Is that the needle valve that is going into the filter? Can I get one of those at any Napa auto parts?

Probably NAPA will have them. As will Home Depot.

The needle valve is just a junction that allows me to shutoff fuel to the line if anything breaks, right? I am sure if I go and try ot find a needle valve, the people will be comfused.

The needle valve is also used as a snubber.
When run almost totaly closed (just opened enough to allow readings on the gauge) it lessens the pulses from the VP injection pump that might cause the gauge to buzz.

So when I run my gauge, I just want to open the needle valve about 1/2 way? This allows the fluctuations of the VP44 not to be felt by the gauge? I will get all these parts today.

Install the needle valve and close it all the way off.
(don't force it as this will mess up the needle & seat)
Then have someone watch the gauge with the truck running.
Open it just enough for a good reading on the gauge (maybe 1/8 turn or so)
Then shut the truck off to make sure the pressure reading falls quickly.
Be sure the reading goes up rapidly and down rapidly so you will get a true reading at WOT.
If so, you're good to go.

How long

How long of hose is needed from the fuel can to an A pillar connection? Anyone remember? Getting ready to do a 3-guage and trying to have my ducks in a row before I rip into it.

Get an isolator and keep the fuel in the engine bay. Or an electric sender. One of the two.

Question:

Do you need to bleed the air out of the line between the needle valve and the isolator?

Since I don't do drugs, (and have a syringe) how the heck do I get the anti freeze into the little tube from the isolator to the guage (the tube is already run up to the guage, but not installed)?

Just a comment on the needle valve. I installed my gauges last weekend, and used a NAPA valve. I noticed a small leak after finishing everything and spent quite a bit of time trying to find exactly which connection was leaking. Ended up being the little T handle on the valve...tightened it up and everything was fine.

Neither has proven to last on the 24Vs. The from the VP kill the senders, and MOST isolators are eaten by diesel.

An isolator that is diesel resistant can be pricey, and I don't know who would make one.

Thats what the needle valve is for.

I used a HUGE psi unit from some weird pipe fittings store and the plan is to turn it all the way off and open it just enough for the gauge to move. The slower the gauge is, the better with the electric sender because its going to be a lot easier on it

Edit: USE ALL STEEL OR BRASS FITTINGS!

I made the mistake of using an aluminum fitting and snapped it off in the lid of my fuel canister
